Shailen Rane
,
CEO, Soar Beyond Ltd
After 17 years running a healthcare consultancy, Shailen felt his physical and mental health were suffering. His weight had increased, his thinking felt fuzzier and he was overwhelmed by the demands of business.
He knew something needed to change. His concern was whether he could fit it into an already packed diary—and whether the effort would make a difference.

Shailen had reached a point where looking after himself felt essential to moving forward.
Running his business brought responsibility, pressure and competing demands. He wanted to improve his health, but adding training and changes to his eating felt like another commitment in a week that was already full.
He also wanted an approach he could continue beyond the initial programme, including when travelling or spending time with friends.
TRUTH built training around Shailen’s schedule, with sessions at 6:30am so he could exercise before the working day took over.
Coaching combined structured exercise, practical changes to his eating and ongoing support. He valued understanding the reasons behind the advice and having coaches who could adapt it to his circumstances.
When work took him to a hotel in the Midlands, his coach prepared a workout he could complete independently in the hotel gym. That helped him keep his routine while travelling.
More energy and clearer thinking
Shailen described feeling sharper, more positive and less thrown by challenges. He said he felt ten years younger.
Better sleep and recovery
He reported sleeping better, recovering better and feeling less bloated.
A routine that fitted his diary
Early sessions helped him make training a consistent part of his week. He described enjoying exercise and wanting to prioritise it.
Support that carried into working life
After completing his hotel workout, Shailen said he arrived at the training session he was delivering full of energy. He also described applying lessons from coaching to challenges in his business.
“I’m sharper, less kind of thrown by challenges.”
At the time of his interview, Shailen was seven weeks into coaching. He had noticed substantial changes, while recognising that maintaining them would be the next step.
He wanted to continue building healthier eating and structured exercise into everyday life, with support that could adapt around travel and work.
For someone who had worried about finding the time, his experience was that the right structure and flexibility made the commitment manageable.
